My Therapeutic Approach

Martine L Pilling

Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Greenwich University, Child & Adult Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor

Trauma Specialist | Creative & Transpersonal Practitioner

"Healing is the process of integrating the many parts of ourselves—the past and the present, the conscious and the unconscious, the personality and the soul."

With extensive postgraduate experience and a degree from the University of Greenwich, I provide an interactive and proactive therapeutic space for adults, teenagers, and children (ages 4+). My practice is rooted in radical kindness and the belief that every individual possesses an innate tendency toward their full potential.

An Integrative & Tailored Approach

I work Integratively, meaning I do not believe a single theory can hold the answers for every person. Instead, I blend Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Transpersonal, and Creative elements to suit your unique circumstances. Whether we are addressing the cognitive, behavioral, or physiological systems, my goal is to help you understand your own processes and move toward a more fulfilled life.

  • Psychodynamic Insight: We may look at how your past experiences and childhood relationships shape your current behaviors. By exploring our own therapeutic relationship (the transferential relationship), we can gain live insight into your dynamics with the world outside the room.

  • Person-Centred Connection: My work is fundamentally client-led. I prioritize your conscious experience, offering validation and acceptance to help you unblock the path to your "higher self."

  • Transpersonal & Spiritual Depth: Using Jungian-influenced techniques, we explore the person behind the personality, encompassing all levels of human experience, including the spiritual.

Specialist Trauma & Dissociation Care

A significant portion of my practice is dedicated to Rape and Sexual Trauma recovery. I am highly experienced in working with the long-term effects of childhood emotional and sexual abuse, as well as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Using specialized tools like Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and Energy Focused Therapy (EFT), I help survivors safely process traumatic imprints and reclaim their narrative.

Early Childhood & Creative Therapy

For children and those who find talking difficult, I offer a Creative and Trauma-Informed sanctuary. Holding a Level 6 Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People, I utilize:

  • Sand Tray Play: A powerful way to witness "hidden" feelings that are blocking conscious awareness.

  • Creative Modalities: Drawing, guided imagery, and play to help piece together experiences that words cannot yet reach.

  • Mindfulness: Tailored techniques for both children and adults to find grounding and presence.

Supervision

I also hold a Level 6 Certificate in Counselling Supervision, offering a reflective and creative space for fellow practitioners to explore their clinical work and professional growth.
